The Talkhouse was built in the late 1660's as a family home.It was first recorded as a public house in 1783 when the first liquor licence was issued. In 1860 a wheelwright and carpenter called William Turner bought the liquor licence and traded very successfully until 1887. During his time there Wiliam Turner employed a " very buxom serving wench " by the name of Betty Bottom.Now begins the strange and mysterious history of THE WIND AND BOTTOM CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN Read on and wonder...............................
